Technology at Our Ottawa Dental Clinic
Whether it's during a routine checkup or in the event of a dental emergency, you will likely require the use of dental technology to support your dental care.
At Cedars Dental, we use dental technology to help in the planning of your treatments and to help monitor the ongoing health of your oral structures.
Because we can display digital X-rays and scans on the monitors in our treatment rooms, we can show you any issues in your mouth and walk you through your treatment plan.
Our dental team aims to provide proactive care and address your dental concerns while keeping you fully informed. Dental technology helps us do that.
Digital X-Rays
Digital X-rays use digital sensors instead of traditional photographic X-ray film. They produce highly detailed computer images of the teeth and gums that we are able to view within moments. This give our team a closer look at the interior structures of your teeth and mouth that we cannot otherwise see.
Panoramic X-Rays
Panoramic X-rays are quite similar to digital X-rays except for one main difference; they allow your dentist to create a single image of your entire mouth. This image is a flat representation of the teeth, upper and lower jaws, temporomandibular joints (TMJ), and the nasal and sinus structures. Panoramic X-rays are often used to help plan treatments for dentures, braces, extractions and implants.
Dental Lasers
Dental lasers are an efficient tool that can be used in a variety of soft and hard tissue procedures. These dental lasers are focused beams of light that allow us to perform dental procedures with less pain and fewer medical interventions. At Cedars Dental, our dentist uses lasers to remove overgrown or decayed tissue and to reshape the gums.
Oral Cancer Screening Device
The VELscope® is an oral cancer screening device that helps the dentist to identify abnormalities and diseases in the mouth, such as cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions. Using fluorescence visualisation technology, the VELscope screening can be performed in your dentist’s office during routine exams and under normal lighting conditions in about two minutes.
iTero 3D Scanner
The iTero® intraoral scanner allows our dental team to take accurate, 3D impressions of your bite. It allows us to plan your dental treatment in real-time, store data digitally, and create Invisalign clear aligners. Using your digitally stored data we are able to monitor your progress and compare it to your previous scans.
